During 2010, we will be making a series of managed improvements to our web platform – http://www.emeraldinsight.com – as a direct result of feedback from our library customers and our research community.
Initial development has focused on our first phase, with a more intuitive, user-friendly design and enhanced search and browse capabilities, the site is easier and more efficient to use. We have also taken the opportunity to give the site a fresh, new look:
To enable our users to familiarize themselves with the changes before we go to a live environment, we are making the new site available as a beta release until mid-June. To see the new site please visit: http://beta.emeraldinsight.com

Please note the following points:
- This is a trial of our new site – the live site is unaffected by beta.
- We have provided a link on every page from the live site to beta and from beta back to the live site so you can switch easily between them.
- The beta site provides access to a full copy of our content database as at the end of March and we intend to update this periodically over the beta trial period; you will be authenticated for access to your subscribed content as usual.
- You will not be able to buy content through the pay-per-view function on beta.
- Any changes made to “my profile” on the beta site will not be reflected on the live site.
- Usage statistics for downloads performed on the beta site will be merged with the logs from the live site so you will see one set of composite reports at the end of each month of the trial period.
- Every page on beta has a link to a comments form where you can tell us what you think of the site or report any issues or concerns. By providing feedback you have the opportunity to help shape future developments and enhancements.
We intend to run the beta trial until mid-June to give you time to update your internal user guides and to avoid any disruption to users during this busy time in the academic year.
Further announcements will be made before we replace the current live site with the new one.
